I used to have a software the had a single display which looked like the palm pad.  It would allow you to select the house code and press the buttons to control things.  Does anyone know of a portable (no installation, just the exe and possibly library files) that would allow for simple control of a CM11A?  I'm just looking to verify that things work correctly without having to install a full blown app.  Once I know the CM11A will work with my laptop and adapter, I'll test the actual apps that have potential.

I remember that program but it was for the CK18A Firecracker interface kit.
That included the CM17A Serial Interface.
I will see if I can find something in my archives of programs for the CM11A.

There is a free X10-only version of HCA (Home Control Assistant) that includes a control panel like that.  It does require installation, but it is easy to use.

This vendor has a link to the software:

I don't have a Firecracker and have not used this software.

I don't think the Firecracker software worked with the CM11A as it was in the kit with a CM17A firecracker interface.
The software is an installer for Windows. So it will not run without being installed.

With the demise of X10, there have been a number of requests for alternative automation software.  Tuicemen discovered the Marmitek European version of ActiveHome Pro can be installed without an X10 license or access to the X10 server.  That can be obtained directly from Marmitek, and Tuicemen placed a copy on his website:

    http://www.activehomepro.eu/

    http://tuicemen.com/downloads/setup_ahp_marmitek_316.EXE

The following are PC-based automation programs that support the X10 Protocol (in alphabetical order):

    HEYU (for Linux, Mac):  http://heyu.tanj.com/

    Home Control Assistant:  http://www.hcatech.com/

    Home Domination:  http://www.homedomination.com/

    HomeSeer:  http://homeseer.com/index.html

    MisterHouse:  http://misterhouse.sourceforge.net/

    PC Companion:  http://www.angelfire.com/in2/ontkoi/X10AHP/PcCompanion.html

    Powerhome:  http://www.myx10.com/default.aspx

    XTension (for the Mac):  http://www.shed.com/about.html

I know there are others out there.  Please let me know if you have a favorite that is not listed here.

Marmitek version doesn't support X10 AHP Transceiver Module.

I used it with Windows XP. It didn't work with Windows 7 anymore.

I noticed that x10.com also has a download link.  Not sure if there is any difference, but it maybe worth a try.

Marmitek version doesn't support X10 AHP Transceiver Module.

I tested the Marmitek software with my own CM15A on a XP system, and it did work.  There is a problem in that the cities are for Europe.  A work around might be to choose one of the correct latitude, and then add the appropriate offset for timers, but I haven't confirmed that would work.

BobL43: I also had a issue with 8.1 and had to revert to 8 then back this caused me to lose AHP.
however I discovered that the program was still registered in the registry.
I installed the Marmetec version then found a old backup of my files and over wrote the AHP folder this gave me a working North American version.
The back up wasn't from windows 8 but from XP ;)

bkenobi:
You could download x10Relayer which is a simple free app to relay x10 info to other apps of mine on your network.

However it is possible to send x10 commands directly to a interface as well.
It is build on the AHP SDK so the redistributionables  need to be installed.
It will work with any x10 interface.

X10 turned me into a Software programmer.
A warning label should have been added ;)

Last night I went threw the download links x10 has up.
Most of these are not full installers but two are it seems.
The old software bkenobi is thinking of (firecracker) is one that appear to be the full installer.
The other is the video driver for the Va13a

The new owner stated these installers should be working shortly.
However the registration process may take a bit longer as servers and data is a mess right now.
They were not given much time to gather the servers and some Hardware pieces were missed.
These pieces (mostly cables) are hard to find and some had to be ordered on ebay. ;)

it is possible to convert the Marmitek AHP to a non registered North American version.
I have created a tool to do this however the Marmitek version needs to be installed.
Currently this is available to actively posting members on my forum.
However with the reintroduction of the CM15A for sale I'll make this available shortly to everyone. ;)
