I have an X10 brand 20A wired filter that I've installed in a project box and have set up to filter my PC equipment from the rest of the house to remove noise. I've been using this for quite some time and it seems to work fine. I have been testing HomeGenie with a Raspberry Pi connected to my backup CM15A. The CM15A (as well as all the other hardware) is connected behind the filter. I sent a command to test it's functionality and was surprised to see AHP pick up the signal. Is it expected that the filter would not isolate X10 commands from the filtered side to the unfiltered side? To be fair, the primary CM15A is on the same circuit and not far from the filter, so if it were simply reducing the "noise" (X10 signal in this case), perhaps the primary CM15A would still see it with sufficient signal strength.
The only reason this is really important is that I was planning on testing the system in an isolated environment prior to switching over. If I can't isolate the two systems though, that poses potential issues and I'll have to keep that in mind during testing. I currently have 2 extra X10 20A wired filters, but no other filter available. I've been half keeping an eye out for another Smarthome FilterLinc since they seem to be really nice units. Will those isolate the signal better? I have a couple around the house, so I'll try myself but I'm curious if anyone has a known working isolation method.
