Title: X10 operation with solar power systems
Post by: kentm on August 28, 2013, 01:25:38 PM
I am on the verge of installing an 8.33kw solar system on my roof .  Does anyone have any experience with these systems and how they may or may not have any affect on X10 operations? This is not a battery/inverter system but rather a full time DC to AC system that runs continuously.
Any comments appreciated

No experience, but if the inverter is a true sine wave inverter, you should be alright. I have tried X10 on a cheap "modified sine" inverter which did not work.

A true sine wave invert is required to put power on the grid.

I suspect you will have the same issues if you were 100% on the grid.

Where I'm at right now I'm totally off grid.
I still have issues with signal suckers and noise but I've identified the culprits.
This isn't hard when your watching and counting watts. ;)

The inverters are definitely state of the art true sine wave machines. I'm sure they would have to be to be allowed to output to the grid. Signal suckers will always continue to plague us.

Were you able to use the entire set up? It seems pretty effective to me so can you provide some more information?
