I was just ordering parts to kit another batch of XTB-IIR kits, and received quite a surprise. The .56uF 200V ceramic capacitor in the transmitter tank circuit jumped from $3.98 to $9.23 at Mouser in unit quantity, and $8.20 at the next price break. Even at 100 pieces, which is way more than I need, they are still $5.95 each. Digikey is even more expensive. And the inductor in that circuit is now special order with a minimum order of 100 at Mouser and 500 at Digikey.
Unless I can find an alternative (and I've tried all the usual suppliers), this may mean the end of this product when my present inventory is gone. The only option I see is to revise the PCB to accept a parallel combination of capacitors and an alternate inductor.
:( Wow that is a terrible surprise. ???
I hope you can come up with a acceptable solution.
Yes, the option is a revised PCB layout that will accept parallel capacitors and alternate inductors.
A few other components increased in price, but nothing like that 230% jump for the capacitor. The last batch from Digikey were $3.05 each.
